Meanwhile, ABC journalist David Alandete claimed that Machado “will reappear at the Sanctuary of the Divine Shepherdess in Barquisimeto,” Lara state.
“Her return became possible thanks to a diplomatic operation involving several countries, with the knowledge of the United States,” the Spanish journalist explained.
However, international media outlets have reported statements attributed to Donald Trump in which the U.S. president denied knowing about the Nobel Peace Prize laureate’s return. “I didn’t know anything about that. I hope she’s safe,” he said.
A day earlier, when reporters asked whether he supported Machado’s return to Venezuela, Trump stated, “Everything is going to be fine.”
Last Thursday, Vente Venezuela organized a protest that brought hundreds of people together in Caracas to demand immediate presidential elections.
Protesters marched from western Caracas, chanting “Elections now,” and gathered in a city square alongside leaders from several factions of the opposition coalition, the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD).
“We are a people determined to be free. And yes, this is what we have: just a glimpse of everything that lies ahead. We are determined to move forward until we achieve our Freedom,” Machado wrote on her X account.
